CAT
CAT (computer-aided translation) is a form of translation in which the translator uses special software to assist in translating. It should not be confused with machine translation, which is carried out by a computer alone; the computer tools, such as translation memory, help to reduce the human workload. The benefits of using CAT software include consistency of terminology, the possibility to retain translation memories and databases of terminology, increased quality in translation and frequently not insignificant savings in costs.
